Ghana Lottery Authority and GMTF explore project-based and annual contributions to address gaps in MRI, CT scans, dialysis and breast screening services nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Ghana.- The National Lottery Authority <\/strong>(NLA) of Ghana has stepped up its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts by partnering with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund <\/strong>(GMTF) to strengthen healthcare delivery<\/strong> across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GMTF visited the NLA offices on October 22 to discuss collaboration<\/strong> aimed at improving hospital infrastructure<\/strong> and medical equipment nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials attending the meeting included Director-General Mohammed Abdul\u2011Salam<\/strong>, Deputy Director-General Eric Wadie, Director of Corporate Communications Afua Offie from the NLA, and GMTF Administrator Obuobia Darko-Opoku<\/strong>, all of whom expressed optimism about the partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NLA said: \u201cContributing to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund aligns with NLA\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility objectives and its mandate to use proceeds<\/strong> from lottery operations for good causes<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darko-Opoku said that the Fund, established under Act 114,<\/strong> has begun a nationwide needs assessment<\/strong> of hospitals. The assessment revealed significant gaps in medical infrastructure and diagnostic equipment<\/strong>, particularly in areas such as MRI, CT scans, dialysis and breast screening services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that many hospitals are struggling<\/strong> to provide adequate healthcare due to the lack of modern facilities and called on corporate institutions <\/strong>like the NLA to partner with the Fund in upgrading hospitals and strengthening healthcare delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NLA said: \u201cThe Authority is open to exploring mechanisms for regular support<\/strong> to the Fund, possibly through project\u2011based partnerships <\/strong>or annual contributions<\/strong>, as part of its efforts to make a lasting impact on the health sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engagement highlights how lottery operators in Africa can channel revenues<\/strong> beyond gaming into social impact<\/strong> projects, providing a potential model for other operators on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n
