High-level talks with the Association of Lotto Marketing Companies focused on unregistered operators, contract reviews and new terminal technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Ghana.- Ghana’s National Lottery Authority<\/strong> (NLA) has stepped up efforts to strengthen oversight and modernise operations in the lottery sector following a high-level meeting with the Association of Lotto Marketing Companies<\/strong> (LMC). The session on October 22 was led by NLA Director General Mohammed Abdul-Salam<\/strong> and LMC Chairman Francis Opoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A NLA press release said: \u201cAbdul-Salam highlighted that one of the major challenges<\/strong> of the Authority is clamping down on activities of unregistered lotto operators<\/strong>. The introduction of new identification stickers and other strategies would help manage the situation effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executives also addressed a range of operational<\/strong> and financial matters<\/strong>, including contracts with KGL<\/strong>, a private technology company partnered with the NLA that manages digital lottery operations. KGL\u2019s agreements were a central focus in discussions on enhancing transparency and efficiency, alongside contracts with third-party collaborators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also covered the LMCs\u2019 Stabilisation Fund<\/strong> – a reserve to maintain operational stability – and their Legacy Debt, which covers outstanding obligations from past operations. Abdul-Salam said that matters concerning contracts, the Stabilisation Fund and Legacy Debt are subject to Board decisions<\/strong> and appropriate procedural processes, and would be reviewed to ensure mutual benefit for all stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operational modernisation<\/strong> was another key topic. Abdul-Salam added that a state-of-the-art terminal<\/strong> is currently undergoing testing. “Once completed, the terminals will be made available to the LMCs to enhance their operations and improve productivity<\/strong>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdul-Salam thanked the executives for their initiative and encouraged them to formally submit any grievances<\/strong> and proposals<\/strong> for onward submission to the Board for further deliberations aimed at achieving mutual benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LMC Chairman Francis Opoku welcomed the engagemen<\/strong>t, appreciating the chance to discuss operational and regulatory matters with the Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n
