The latest Communications Statistics Report from the Tanzania <strong>Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA)<\/strong> for the quarter ending September 2025 shows that <strong>telecom subscriptions <\/strong>surged by 7.1 per cent to 99.3 million, up from 92.7 million in June, while <strong>internet subscriptions<\/strong> rose 4.1 per cent to 56.3 million, with mobile broadband accounting for more than 99 per cent of connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report states, according to the Citizen: &#8220;This digital surge is further strengthened by <strong>mobile money adoption<\/strong>, which now reaches 71.7 million subscriptions, with over 5.27 billion transactions processed during the quarter.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mobile money adoption has surged due to a combination of <strong>technological advancements<\/strong>, supportive policy initiatives and shifts in <strong>consumer behaviour<\/strong>, enabling more Tanzanians to participate in digital transactions and online gaming platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Combined with a 10 per cent<strong> reduction<\/strong> in telecom <strong>fraud attempts <\/strong>thanks to improved awareness and security measures, this creates a safe and accessible environment for online betting and igaming platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Connectivity powers igaming surge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" src=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2025\/10\/TANZANIA-GAMINNG.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11332\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Gaming Board of Tanzania is steering the country\u2019s online gaming industry toward growth and transparency.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Tanzania\u2019s online gaming sector is already thriving, generating <strong>record revenues<\/strong>, attracting major investments and creating thousands of jobs. The <strong>Gaming Board of Tanzania<\/strong> reports that over the last four years, the licensed gaming sector generated <strong>TZS260.21bn (\u20ac96.37m)<\/strong> in revenue, nearly double the previous period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the same period, <strong>62 licensed companies<\/strong> have invested <strong>TZS66.7bn (\u20ac23.1m)<\/strong>, offering 8,549 betting games to Tanzanian players. A major addition, Ithuba Tanzania Limited, launched in April 2025 with  TZS54bn (\u20ac18.2m) in setup and technology, running transparent online draws that have helped build trust and attract <strong>more players<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Olesumayan Daniel, Acting Director General of the Gaming Board of Tanzania, said: \u201cThe sector has created <strong>30,000 jobs<\/strong> and contributed over <strong>TZS 922 billion (\u20ac318.5 million)<\/strong> in<strong> taxes<\/strong>, funding schools, roads and sports programs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials emphasise that betting should remain entertainment, encouraging <strong>responsible play<\/strong>.
