The event drew hundreds of participants from more than 40 companies in support of maternal health, with funds aimed at providing 3,000 mama kits to health centres in central and northern Uganda.

This marks BetPawa’s second consecutive year of sponsoring the Corporate Run. In 2024, the sports betting firm contributed UGX 10 million (€2,450) to the inaugural event, which raised UGX 32.5 million (€7,960) overall to provide 1,000 maternity kits to facilities in eastern and northern regions. BetPawa also fielded men’s and women’s teams that performed well in the runs that year, combining participation with financial support.

BetPawa’s involvement fits into its broader CSR activities in Uganda, which include partnerships with the Ministry of Health to address maternal mortality. The company’s mama kit distribution support, part of its community health initiatives, aims to address the critical issue of maternal mortality, where 16 to 19 women die daily from pregnancy-related complications.

Borah Ndanyungu, BetPawa’s Head of Local Marketing and CSR, said: “At BetPawa, we believe no woman should lose her life while giving life. Supporting this initiative allows us to stand with Ugandans in ensuring that expectant mothers receive the care and dignity they deserve.”

The sponsorship of this event by the NLGRB, Uganda’s gaming oversight authority, underscores its mandate of using lottery proceeds for public welfare initiatives. The gesture builds on the board’s prior contributions to healthcare and infrastructure, showing how regulated gaming revenues aid community needs.

Other sponsors of the run include Novo Games, Node Group, the Electoral Commission, High 5 Media, Black Lyf, Solace Graphix, Uganda Baati, Uzima Water, NBS Sport and Ritz Medical Centre.

Jorge De la Guadra, Managing Director of Novo Games, said: “We believe that every corporate brand has a responsibility to touch lives.
