WCGRB proposes responsible gambling day for Western Cape
Licence holders have until October 23 to express interest in the proposed November event, which will combine team challenges with gambling harm prevention awareness.
South Africa.- The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) has invited gambling licence holders operating in South Africa’s Western Cape province to express interest in a proposed responsible gambling event scheduled for November 2026.
The regulator announced the proposed Play Your Part: Responsible Gambling Day 2026 in a social media post, describing it as an outdoor industry engagement designed to combine responsible gambling awareness with team activities and collaboration among licence holders.
The event is being planned to coincide with Responsible Gambling Month in November. However, the board said it would proceed only if sufficient interest was received and the necessary arrangements were finalised. Licence holders have until October 23, 2026, to express their interest in participating. The board said it would circulate invitations containing further details of the proposed event directly to licence holders.
The planned programme would feature interactive team challenges, creative activities and responsible gambling awareness initiatives. Through these activities, the WCGRB aims to strengthen cooperation among licence holders and encourage greater industry participation in preventing gambling-related harm. The board has yet to confirm the event’s venue, date or final programme.
The announcement comes as the WCGRB recruits for positions covering key functions such as gaming audits, inspections and responsible gambling research, as it seeks to strengthen its oversight of the gambling industry in the Western Cape.
