A total of 16 suspects were arrested during the operation.

Uganda.- Police in Entebbe Municipality carried out a coordinated, intelligence-led operation across several locations in Wakiso District, targeting suspected hideouts and areas linked to illegal gambling activity.

The early morning raid on Saturday, April 11, covered areas including Wamala, Buzzi, Lutaba and Ssisa Village, where officers moved in on identified gambling spots, as well as selected residential and construction sites within Hossana Estate and Jomayi Estate.

While illegal gambling activities were present in some of these locations, police stated that the operation was mainly prompted by a tip-off concerning an individual suspected of carrying an illegal firearm. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said the exercise was informed by intelligence reports and public concerns over growing security risks linked to certain individuals operating in the area.

A total of 16 suspects were arrested during the operation, with one of them, Ronald Segujja, assisting officers in recovering a pistol, which is now being kept as an exhibit. Investigations are ongoing and the suspects remain in custody pending their appearance in court.
