Sunbet Botswana backs community projects through CSI programme
Operator backs initiatives focused on youth empowerment and health awareness as part of its corporate social investment strategy.
Botswana.- Sunbet Botswana has strengthened its community engagement efforts through its corporate social investment (CSI) programme, supporting initiatives focused on youth empowerment and health awareness.
The initiative was highlighted during a donation event held at Cresta Lodge, where the operator handed over P278,298.84 (€18,000) to community organisations involved in outreach and social support programmes. Sunbet Botswana General Manager Tsholofelo Makgoeng said the company’s role goes “beyond gaming and includes contributing positively to the communities” in which it operates.
The contribution forms part of Sunbet Botswana’s wider CSI strategy aimed at supporting projects that address social challenges and promote sustainable community development across the country. The beneficiaries were selected through a public voting process conducted on the operator’s social media platforms, allowing community members to play a role in determining which initiatives would receive support.
Among the initiatives backed are programmes focused on raising awareness around drug abuse and substance dependency among young people, working with schools and community groups to promote prevention and rehabilitation efforts. Other initiatives supported by the funding focus on community development in township areas, including programmes designed to promote youth empowerment and social upliftment.
Sunbet Botswana launched operations in the country in 2025 after receiving approval from the national gambling regulator and has since expanded its presence through sports sponsorships, partnerships and community programmes.
