Premier Bet backs Malawi title boxing bout with K15m
The funding will support the staging and promotion of the event while giving Premier Bet greater brand exposure among boxing audiences.
Malawi.- Sports betting operator Premier Bet has committed K15m (€7,577) to support the upcoming Clash at the Castle 11 boxing event in Malawi, where national champion Synowden Munyanje will defend his title against challenger Mayamiko Mozland.
The championship bout, scheduled for August 30 at Kumbali Country Lodge in Lilongwe, is expected to draw boxing fans from across the country. The funding will support the staging and promotion of the event while giving Premier Bet greater brand exposure among boxing audiences, extending its visibility beyond its traditional football partnerships.
Speaking at the sponsorship announcement in Lilongwe, Premier Bet representative Edson Kunkeyani said the operator remains committed to supporting the development of different sporting disciplines in Malawi, adding that its partnership with local boxing promoter New Dawn Boxing Promotion aligns with the company’s broader efforts to contribute to the country’s sporting sector.
New Dawn Boxing Promotion managing director Michael Chimaliza welcomed the financial backing, describing it as a significant contribution that would strengthen preparations for the event.
He said the support would help the promotion deliver a successful tournament and encourage fans to attend what he expects will be a highly competitive title contest.
The contest follows Munyanje’s victory over Byson Gwayani in May to claim the national title, after which Mozland stepped forward to challenge the new champion. Munyanje has vowed to retain the belt when the pair meet next month.
