North West Gambling Board achieves clean audit for second consecutive year

The regulator says it will use the latest result to maintain standards while carrying out its responsibilities across the North West.

South Africa.- The North West Gambling Board (NWGB) has secured a clean audit for the 2025/2026 financial year, marking its second consecutive year with the highest audit outcome.

The provincial gambling regulator announced the result on September 1, attributing it to teamwork, disciplined management and a continued focus on governance and accountability.

A clean audit is the highest outcome an organisation can receive from the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA). It means an entity has received an unqualified audit opinion with no findings. For a public institution, this means its financial statements are accurate, its performance information is reliable, and it has complied with the relevant legislation governing its operations.

The NWGB also achieved a clean audit for the 2024/2025 financial year, giving the Board two successive years with the same outcome.

Acting CEO Boitumelo Qalinge credited the Board’s employees for the result, citing their dedication, professionalism and integrity. He said the NWGB would build on the result by maintaining its focus on performance and governance.

Qalinge said: “Let’s use this momentum to keep raising the bar and delivering for the people of the North West.”

The result comes as the NWGB continues its regulatory work across the province. In July, the Board announced plans to destroy 141 illegal gambling machines seized during compliance operations across the North West’s four districts.

The Board said it would continue to focus on governance, accountability and fulfilling its regulatory responsibilities in the province.
