NLC trains Mpumalanga non-profits on lottery funding compliance

South Africa.- The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) has engaged non-profit organisations in Mpumalanga on the requirements for accessing lottery funding and complying with its online registration and application processes.
The education and awareness session was held on August 4 at Da Village Villas in Kwa-Mhlanga by the NLC’s Mpumalanga Provincial Office in partnership with the Mpumalanga Department of Social Development.
The engagement targeted Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) and Non-Profit Companies (NPCs), with officials providing guidance on the registration requirements and procedures for submitting applications through the NLC’s online system.
NLC stakeholder management coordinator Menda Manamela, in his opening remarks, stressed the importance of meeting the online registration requirements. He encouraged organisations to adopt the commission’s digital system and use the available online processes when registering and applying.
The session also outlined the different types of lotteries regulated by the NLC, including the National Lottery and Sports Pools, Society Lotteries, Lotteries Incidental to Exempt Entertainment and Private Lotteries.

The workshop also addressed practical challenges organisations face when registering online. Participants raised questions about the application process, while NLC and Department of Social Development officials provided guidance on navigating the portal and meeting the relevant requirements.
The commission said the session forms part of its ongoing efforts to improve access to funding opportunities, strengthen compliance and assist organisations in navigating its online registration and application system.
