Morocco’s gaming revolution drives explosive tourism growth
The country is blending heritage and gaming to reshape tourism and attract new visitors in 2025.
Morocco.- Morocco is levelling up its tourism game by harnessing the power of gaming to drive its next big surge. The strategy is already paying off, with international arrivals surging 19 per cent in the first half of 2025. Tourism revenues also hit an impressive DH54bn ($5.6bn), marking a nearly 10 per cent increase compared to last year.
Behind the surge is the 2025 tourism strategy, which blends Morocco’s rich heritage with the fast-evolving world of digital entertainment. At the heart of this transformation are thematic incubators, which are innovation hubs focused on supporting start-ups in various sectors including digital services and notably leisure gaming.
These incubators provide focused support and mentorship to entrepreneurs developing immersive gaming experiences rooted in Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. These innovative projects include virtual journeys through historic towns and augmented reality games inspired by local legends. The impact is clear as tourists stay longer, spend more and engage with Moroccan culture in exciting new ways.
Driving tourism with gaming
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammorr emphasised Morocco’s commitment to boosting leisure tourism and enhancing visitor experiences. “This momentum reinforces our ambition to position Morocco as a high value-added tourist destination. We are therefore focusing on investments in leisure tourism, which is a key factor in boosting tourist spending, extending stays and encouraging repeat visits.”

The country’s vision came to life at the recent Morocco Gaming Expo 2025 in Rabat. The event wowed audiences with high-stakes esports tournaments, cutting-edge virtual reality zones and panel discussions connecting international tech leaders with local talent.
By blending gaming with its vibrant tourism sector, Morocco is offering a compelling experience that appeals to both tradition seekers and modern tech fans. It is drawing culture lovers, digital nomads and competitive gamers from around the world.
This innovative combination of heritage and technology is more than a tourism strategy. It is fast becoming an economic engine, positioning Morocco as one of the most dynamic travel destinations of the decade.
