Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority supports Tourism Street Carnival 2025

MAGLA highlights responsible gaming and community engagement during the vibrant carnival in the city of Blantyre.

Malawi.- The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) played a prominent role at the Tourism Street Carnival 2025 in the city of Blantyre on October 11, highlighting its commitment to responsible gaming and community development.

Thousands of visitors attended the carnival, enjoying cultural performances, exhibitions and live music celebrating Malawi’s tourism and creative talent.

Emphasising that its mission extends beyond industry regulation, MAGLA said: “We are proud to support initiatives that promote a positive social and economic impact.” MAGLA staff showcased banners reading: “Regulating the gaming and lotteries industry to promote a positive social economic impact.”

MAGLA has been active in supporting both community events and responsible gaming initiatives across Malawi. The authority backed the Mount Mulanje Porter’s Race with a K30m (€33,000) sponsorship in September, reinforcing its commitment to community engagement.

Earlier in 2025, MAGLA organised the Responsible Gambling Workshop in Salima, educating operators and stakeholders on player protection and responsible gaming practices.

By combining cultural celebration with public education, MAGLA demonstrated how regulatory authorities can actively engage communities while promoting the social and economic benefits of the gaming sector.
