Côte d’Ivoire.- A player has won 35,598,800 FCFA (€54,300) from a 300 FCFA (€0.46) bet placed on the Loterie Nationale de Côte d’Ivoire (LONACI) PMU horse race programme. The winner, who asked to remain unnamed, made the wager during a Nationale 1 race at PMU ALR. He chose the “FIFTH in order” option, correctly naming the exact finishing order of the top five horses.
The cheque was presented at LONACI headquarters in Marcory by Cheick Oumar Diarra, Director of Marketing and Customer Experience, on behalf of the General Manager, Dramane Coulibaly. During the handover ceremony, Diarra underscored LONACI’s dual commitment to making gaming rewarding and safer for its customers. He said: “LONACI continues to innovate and reward its players. Every day, we strive to make gaming both entertaining and accessible. After all, we all have a good reason to play.”
The win is part of a series of enhanced prize pools launched by LONACI in late 2024, with more than 75 million FCFA (€114,500) distributed across recent races. The operator paid out 288 billion FCFA (€439m) in total winnings in 2024, generating tax revenue that supports vital public projects including schools and healthcare facilities.
