Limpopo, North West and Eastern Cape win top award for responsible gambling initiatives

The recognition highlights impactful programmes implemented by the regulators between November 2024 and August 2025.

South Africa.- The Limpopo Gambling Board (LGB), North West Gambling Board (NWGB) and Eastern Cape Gambling Board (ECGB) have received the Best Responsible Gambling Awareness Initiatives Award at the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) Awards, held during the just concluded Responsible Gambling Summit 2025.

According to SARGF, the recognition highlights the fresh and impactful programmes that were implemented by the regulators between November 2024 and August 2025.

Some of the winning regulatory bodies’ efforts during this period include three different outreach programmes by NWGB in Potchefstroom, Rustenburg and Makapanstad in August 2025, where it educated residents about the dangers of illegal and underage gambling. The LGB and ECGB also implemented similar initiatives, focusing on raising awareness and promoting responsible gambling practices in their respective regions.

In a statement announcing its win, LGB said: “Team LGB stood tall again, scooping the Responsible Gambling Public Awareness Initiative Award at the Responsible Gambling Summit. Thanks to the Limpopo community for being part of our journey.”
