Côte d’Ivoire.- On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the National Lottery of Côte d’Ivoire (LONACI) welcomed to its head office in Abidjan, Laurène Kimi Ọssin, the 17-year-old Ivorian taekwondo sensation recently named the best athlete at the 2025 National Award of Excellence.

The young champion was joined by Patrice Remarck, General Director of the Sports, Cultural and ICT Centre (CSCTICAO), and her father, Mr. Ossin.

Laurène’s courtesy call was a gesture of appreciation for LONACI’s support in her athletic pursuits, particularly as she prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The company has been instrumental in helping her achieve her goals and will continue to back her financially as part of its efforts to nurture local talent. Their partnership will also see Laurène serve as a brand ambassador for Sportscash, LONACI’s sports-betting platform. 

Even at a young age, Laurène has built an impressive profile. According to TaekwondoData, she has competed in 35 official bouts with an 88.6 per cent win rate, securing 16 medals, including 13 gold, at global and continental events.

Her victories span cadet to senior levels, with standout performances at the Belgian Open, the WT Presidents Cup – Africa and the Luxembourg Open in 2025. Her rapid rise has earned her a live world ranking of 2,089 points and international recognition as one of the most promising figures in her discipline.

At the meeting, Laurène presented her National Award of Excellence, awarded by President Alassane Ouattara, to Dramane Coulibaly, LONACI’s General Director. Her achievements signify the excellence of Ivorian sporting talent on the global stage and the crucial role of LONACI in the development of sports in the country.
