National Lottery of Guinea selects 15 Master’s students for full scholarships through a public draw, turning lottery proceeds into life-changing educational opportunities.

Guinea.- The National Lottery of Guinea (LONAGUI) has awarded 15 students full scholarships for their Master’s studies through a public draw, turning lottery proceeds into tangible opportunities for education and national development.

The draw took place on October 24, bringing together LONAGUI’s Director General, members of the Board of Directors, staff, institutional partners and applicants from across the country.

A total of 392 applications were received for the third edition of the Scholarship, highlighting the program’s growing national reach. After pre-screening and interviews, LONAGUI held a separate “public lottery draw” to select the 15 winners, who will receive full tuition, a living allowance and ongoing support for their Master’s studies.

Mohamed Baba Sylla, Director General of LONAGUI, said: “Through this initiative, LONAGUI reaffirms its mission: to be a high-performing, responsible public company fully committed to human development and national progress.”

Sylla added: “We firmly believe that merit and perseverance must be rewarded, and that education remains our most secure asset. This is how we will build a stronger Guinea, capable of meeting the challenges of tomorrow.”

Public draw creates student opportunities

Since its launch in 2023, the LONAGUI Scholarship has become a cornerstone of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, transforming lottery proceeds into meaningful benefits for the nation.

On behalf of the Board, Barry Diawara said: “Since its launch, the LONAGUI Scholarship has established itself as one of the flagship programs of our company’s social responsibility policy. It reflects our firm commitment to supporting Guinean youth in their educational journey by giving them the means to express their potential.”

She added: “In just two editions, this program has already changed the destiny of many students. Through this initiative, LONAGUI demonstrates that the fortunes of bettors become a real benefit for the nation.”

By conducting a public lottery draw, LONAGUI ensures the scholarship selection is transparent and fair. The initiative illustrates how chance and merit can intersect, turning the luck of lottery players into opportunities for education and national development.

The 15 winners, representing diverse regions across Guinea, will begin their Master’s programs at partner institutions, carrying with them the promise of education powered by public lottery luck.
