GoldRush opens Botswana’s first limited payout machine site
The site is expected to generate employment opportunities for local residents in roles such as frontline service and maintenance.
Botswana.- GoldRush has become the first operator to open a limited payout machine site in Botswana. Located in Leobah, Phase 4, Gaborone, the establishment features a broad array of gaming options, including limited payout slot machines, classic table games and dedicated entertainment spaces.
The venue was officially unveiled on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Botswana Gambling Authority officials, led by Acting CEO Moruntshi Kemorwale, community members, the press and other stakeholders.
The site is expected to generate employment opportunities for local residents in roles such as frontline service and maintenance. Analysts also project that it will have a positive multiplier effect on the local economy, as Botswana seeks to diversify beyond mining.
Kemorwale said during the event: “This launch underscores our commitment to developing a diverse, compliant and safe gambling sector that positively impacts the national economy while prioritising player protection and responsible gaming.”
The development comes days after the gambling authority held a training session for GoldRush staff on responsible gambling and anti-money laundering protocols.
