Gaming powers youth jobs and digital growth in Tunisia

Gaming is opening doors for Tunisia’s youth and inspiring a wave of fresh ideas in the country’s digital world.

Tunisia.- As Tunisia’s digital economy gains momentum, its gaming sector is quietly becoming a major driver of youth employment and tech innovation. As of mid-2025, approximately 26 gaming companies are operating across the country, spanning game development studios, esports platforms and content creation firms, marking a milestone in a country where digital careers were once seen as limited.

According to the Tunisia Gaming Market Outlook Report, mobile gaming dominates the sector, due to widespread smartphone use and increasingly accessible high-speed internet.

This accessibility has encouraged a wave of digital start-ups and esports communities that are now offering employment pathways for Tunisia’s large youth population. With more than 60% of Tunisians under the age of 35, the demand for creative, tech-forward careers has never been higher.

“The growth of this ecosystem is not just creating entertainment, it’s creating jobs. Young Tunisians are no longer just players. They are coders, designers, influencers and entrepreneurs, driving a new chapter in the country’s tech journey,” stated the report.

Gaming creates new career paths

At Elgazala Technopark, one of Tunisia’s main tech centres where both start-ups and international companies operate, young developers are learning to create games from scratch. Meanwhile, streamers and competitive gamers are earning money by growing their audiences on YouTube and Twitch.

The rise of esports tournaments has also created ripple effects. Jobs have emerged not only for players, but also for organisers, stream technicians, event marketers and content producers. Gaming cafés and co-working spaces are becoming micro-hubs for talent exchange and business building.

Tunisia’s government is turning up the heat on the country’s tech boom, pouring investment into digital infrastructure and throwing its weight behind high-profile tech events. Thanks to this boost, the gaming market is levelling up fast, with the report indicating it’s perfectly set for even more growth and fresh innovation.
