The launch ceremony was attended by Vice-President of the Government Hermann Immongault, Interior Minister Edgar Moukoumbi, government officials, representatives of local authorities and international organisations, as well as economic and civil society stakeholders, according to AGP.
Moukoumbi said a lack of transparency and clarity in the gambling sector had led the state to take control of the activity. He called on GDJ’s management to approach its responsibilities with ambition, innovation and accountability. “The challenge is immense. It will require creativity, boldness and innovation. This sector is now in the hands of Gabonese people,” the minister said.
He added that GDJ’s mission includes offering the public a new approach to games of chance, building trust and generating wealth whose benefits would contribute to the nation.
