Uganda.- A female employee at Fortebet in Adjumani Town Council is receiving treatment after being shot during an armed robbery attack.

The incident happened on the night of Saturday, April 5, when armed robbers stormed the betting office, firing shots and injuring the staff.

According to eyewitnesses, the robbery occurred during busy hours and was carried out by two armed men, with one brandishing an AK-47 rifle.

The robbers ordered customers and staff to remain still before one of them fired two bullets, one of which injured the female employee in the left thigh. They then stole UGX 130,000 (€31) from the cash drawer and fled the betting centre.

A bettor present during the robbery said: “After hearing the first gunshot, I dropped to the ground and stayed there. I didn’t know what the armed robbers would do next.”

Law enforcement is also urging the public to provide any information that could help capture the suspects.
