Enugu gaming regulator joins GRAF as full member
The admission gives ESGC a formal place within the African regulatory forum.
Nigeria.- The Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission (ESGC) has been admitted as a full member of the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF), giving the Nigerian regulator a formal role in the continental body’s regulatory discussions.
ESGC’s membership was confirmed during the 17th GRAF Annual Conference in Maputo, Mozambique, held from September 14 to 17. The meeting focused on issues including artificial intelligence, technology, cybersecurity, data-driven regulation, responsible gambling and player protection as regulators respond to the rapid digitisation of gaming.
The move places ESGC within GRAF’s network of African regulators, where members exchange regulatory knowledge and discuss emerging challenges facing the industry, particularly in areas such as online gaming oversight, responsible gambling, technology and cross-border enforcement.
The development also saw ESGC executive secretary and CEO Prince Arinze Arum receive the Industry Contribution Award at the GRAF Regulatory Excellence Awards. According to ESGC, the award recognised Arum’s contribution to gaming regulation in Nigeria, including the use of technology to strengthen regulatory oversight, digital licensing and verification, operator monitoring and transparency.
GRAF’s 2026 conference concluded with Tanzania confirmed as host of the 2027 edition.
