Enugu Gaming Conference 2025 unveils roadmap for industry growth

The second edition of the conference brought together more than 1,000 participants—from gaming regulators and startup founders to investors, students and esports players.

Nigeria.- Enugu may not be the first place one associates with gaming in Africa, but after the 2025 Enugu Gaming Conference, it’s fast becoming one of the most talked-about names in Nigeria’s gaming and sports betting scene.

Held from July 30–31 at the International Conference Centre, the second edition of the conference brought together more than 1,000 participants—from gaming regulators and startup founders to investors, students and esports players.

Organised by the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission (ESGC), the event was themed “From Unification to Diversification: Shaping Nigeria’s Gaming Future”—a call for smarter regulation and inclusive innovation.

Governor Peter Mbah, represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Nathaniel Uramah, reaffirmed Enugu’s commitment to building digital systems that support safe and scalable gaming. Tools like the automated licence verification portal and real-time operator registration were highlighted as part of the state’s push to fight fraud, enhance compliance and attract long-term investment.

The ESGC, under the leadership of Prince Arinze Arum, has been at the forefront of these reforms, ensuring that the state’s gaming ecosystem is built with both opportunity and accountability in mind. Arum said: “We must be honest with ourselves. The Nigerian gaming industry is at a critical juncture. The conversations are no longer just about enforcement. They are now about jurisdiction, innovation, technology, cross-border collaborations and, most important, structure.”

One of the most impactful moments of the conference was the unveiling of the Rangers Support Raffle Project—a tech-powered initiative linking football, community engagement and transparent gaming. It’s now being considered as a model for other Nigerian football leagues.

Workshops led by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) helped operators and regulators navigate data privacy and NDPA compliance, while esports battles, tech showcases and startup pitches brought the energy of a new digital economy to life.

As states like Enugu take bold steps to shape policy and innovation, the Enugu Gaming Conference is proving to be more than an annual event—it’s becoming the nerve centre of Nigeria’s gaming future.
