Eastern Cape schedules public hearings for casino licence applications
According to the regulator, the proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the Eastern Cape Gambling Act, 1997 (as amended)
South Africa.- The Eastern Cape Gambling Board (ECGB) has announced the dates for public hearings on applications for Zone 1 and Zone 2 casino licences in a public notice issued on Friday, July 10.
The public hearing for the Zone 1 casino licence application is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, at 10:00 at the Boardwalk Hotel on 2nd Avenue, Summerstrand, Gqeberha. The session for the Zone 2 casino licence application will follow on Thursday, July 16, at 10:00 at the Hemingways Hotel, located at the corner of Western Avenue and Two Rivers Drive in KuGompo City.
According to the regulator, the proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the Eastern Cape Gambling Act, 1997 (as amended), which governs gambling activities in the province and sets out the procedures for considering licence applications.
The hearings will provide interested and affected parties with an opportunity to make representations before the Board reaches a decision.
Once the public participation process has been completed, the ECGB will evaluate the submissions before making decisions on the Zone 1 and Zone 2 casino licence applications.
The notice did not disclose the identities of the applicants or indicate when the licensing decisions are expected to be announced.
