Mauritius.- Casino de Maurice is on the verge of internal unrest as staff members express their discontent and worry over the sudden dissolution of the committee tasked with organising employee events and activities. Employees are apprehensive that their engagement funds have been diverted, and the absence of a transparent internal investigation mechanism makes it difficult to address the issue.

Brady Ponnusami, a long-term employee of the casino, noted that the committee’s dissolution occurred on the same day he planned to voice his concerns publicly, raising questions about the motivation behind the decision.

Since there isn’t a functioning board of directors, the workers bypassed the usual channels and wrote directly to the prime minister and deputy minister, demanding prompt explanations and corrective measures to ensure transparency and accountability.

The employees are now waiting for an official response from the authorities and are calling for immediate action to rebuild trust within the organisation.

However, a spokesperson for the State Investment Corporation (SIC) has revealed that the committee was disbanded at the formal request of the employees’ union president. The SIC also denied the allegations that the disputed funds have been mismanaged, stating they are still intact.

Moreover, the corporation guaranteed that elections would be held soon to constitute a new committee.
