Burundi hosts major gaming and tech convention TAG CON 2025

Inaugural convention brings gamers, developers and creatives together, showcasing Burundi as a rising hub for East African gaming and digital innovation.

Burundi.- Burundi has stepped into the spotlight of East Africa’s gaming and tech scene with the recent TAG CON 2025, its inaugural tech, animation and gaming convention, organised by the technology and digital marketing startup Nuyu Agency.

TAG CON 2025 attracted participants from across the region, featuring competitive gaming, 2D and 3D animation workshops, quizzes and interactive tech demonstrations that highlighted Burundi’s emerging creative talent.

The event brought together gamers, developers and creatives at the African Queen Empire in Bujumbura, showcasing local talent through tournaments, animation workshops, cosplay competitions and interactive tech demonstrations.

Prince Musore of Nuyu Agency said: “Despite the long hours and complex preparations, our goal was to provide a platform for Burundi’s gaming and tech talent to connect and showcase their skills. When you see a room full of people learning, competing, laughing, when strangers become a community, you realise the fatigue was an investment.”

Social media buzzed with excitement following the event. “TAG CON 2025 was a wonderful day of gaming, animation and surprises in Bujumbura,” a user posted. Another added: “Great talking about about tech, animation and gaming in Burundi.”

Musore added: “Burundi is a mobile-first, youth-powered country. Talent is everywhere; infrastructure isn’t. That means events like TAG CON are less than parties, but more like bridges.”

TAG CON 2025 did not just entertain, it inspired. By spotlighting gaming and digital innovation, the event positioned Burundi as a rising hub for East African gaming culture and laid the groundwork for future tournaments, developer collaborations and regional partnerships.
