Botswana’s gaming regulator seeks top talent for key positions

The authority invites dedicated professionals to apply by October 17, submitting a cover letter addressed to Chief Executive Officer Peter Emolemo.

Botswana.- The Gambling Authority of Botswana is looking to strengthen its workforce by recruiting for four key positions, including Systems Assurance Officer, Assistant Public Education Officer, Employee Wellness Coordinator, and Communications Specialist.

The authority invites dedicated professionals to apply by October 17. Applicants should submit a cover letter addressed to Chief Executive Officer Peter Emolemo, a detailed CV, certified academic certificates and a copy of their ID.

The roles aim to enhance the authority’s capacity to oversee and regulate Botswana’s growing gaming sector. The Systems Assurance Officer will secure IT systems for licensing and oversight, critical as digital betting expands. The Assistant Public Education Officer will lead community workshops to promote responsible gambling, while the Employee Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing programs to promote employee well-being, mental health and work-life balance.

The Communications Specialist will lead the development of communication plans, campaigns and materials to engage stakeholders and raise awareness about the authority’s work.

In March 2025, the regulator reported that wagers reached 150 million pula (€10.2m) and that ten new bookmaker licences had been issued this year. With the market expected to exceed €22.5m annually, the authority recognises the importance of these new roles in fortifying its regulatory capabilities and supporting industry expansion.
