Botswana regulator bags Africa Responsible Gaming Leadership Award at AGE 2026

The Authority said the award is a testament to its team’s hard work and dedication to promoting responsible gaming practices.

Botswana.- The Gambling Authority of Botswana has received the Africa Responsible Gaming Leadership Award at the Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) 2026 held in Lagos, recognising its role in advancing responsible gambling practices across the continent.

According to the organisers, the award recognises a regulatory authority, operator or industry leader in Africa that has demonstrated exceptional commitment, innovation and impact in promoting responsible gaming practices across the sector.

In recent years, the Gambling Authority has strengthened its responsible gaming framework through awareness campaigns and tighter licensing controls. These initiatives align with broader continental efforts to address concerns around addiction, underage gambling and regulatory shortcomings as the market expands.

In a social media post celebrating the win, the Authority said the award is a testament to its team’s hard work and dedication to promoting responsible gaming practices, adding that it remains the “torchbearers of responsible gaming programmes in Africa”.

The regulator reiterated its commitment to creating a safer and more sustainable industry for all and expressed appreciation to its team, licensees, customers and other stakeholders for their continued support and dedication to fostering a sustainable industry.
