Botswana gambling authority gets new acting CEO

Moruntshi Kemorwale replaces former CEO Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe, whose sudden suspension from the role is mired in controversy and has raised eyebrows across the industry.

Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority has confirmed the appointment of Moruntshi Kemorwale as its acting Chief Executive Officer. The announcement was made through the Authority’s official communication channels and endorsed by the Ministry of Trade and Investment.

Prior to his new role, Kemorwale served as the Authority’s Director of Responsible Gambling & Corporate Affairs. In this position, he led initiatives promoting responsible gambling and ensuring compliance with regulations. His previous stint as Chief of Staff provided him with in-depth knowledge of the Authority’s operational and strategic priorities.

Beyond the gambling authority, Kemorwale also has several years of experience working in other sectors like mining, media and marketing. He held senior positions at various firms, such as Chief of Communications at Morupule Coal Mine and Director of Communications at Litmus Media Botswana

The appointment comes during a period of growth for Botswana’s gambling industry, which is adapting to evolving regulatory requirements and technological innovations. Kemorwale replaces former CEO Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe, whose sudden suspension from the role is mired in controversy and has raised eyebrows across the industry.

As acting CEO, Kemorwale will assume full executive responsibilities, ensuring continuity in leadership while the organisation navigates its current priorities.
