Betway renews SA Rugby deal with new inclusions
Betway first partnered with SA Rugby in August 2021, marking the first time the rugby governing council associated with a brand in the gambling industry.
South Africa.- Online betting company Betway has announced an extension of its partnership with SA Rugby for four more years. In addition to the Springbok men’s and women’s sides, the updated deal will cover Blitzboks and Springbok Women’s Sevens teams.
The new agreement means that Betway will continue to be an associate sponsor of SA Rugby till June 2028. Its logo will feature on the back of the shorts of the four teams, as well as appear on co-branded promotional assets like social media graphics and videos.
The renewed partnership kicked off on June 28, 2025, when the Springboks clashed with the Barbarians at Cape Town’s 55,000-capacity DHL Stadium. The former won the match with a wide margin of 52-7.
Rian Oberholzer, SA Rugby CEO, said: “As we’ve seen over the last four years, this partnership with Betway enabled us to work together in bringing our passionate fans even closer to the game.
“We are excited to extend our partnership with Betway as this will yet again stretch beyond the four white lines of a rugby field. Betway have brought some exciting initiatives to the rugby landscape, such as the Betway Next Phase, an exciting three-year initiative that helped develop, upskill and empower coaches in women’s rugby.”
Betway initially partnered with SA Rugby in August 2021, marking the first time the rugby governing council would associate with a brand in the gambling industry.
Mark Rowles, Betway Africa’s Head of Marketing, said: “The Springboks are a team that has brought so much joy to South Africa, and we as Betway are delighted to be behind the Boks for another four years; our journey has seen so much success for the team and that feel good feeling has certainly rubbed off on the Rainbow Nation. We are looking forward to playing a role in the success of both the women’s and sevens teams over the next four-year period and will be investing in the growth and accessibility of the women’s game.”
Rowles added that Betway will launch its official Springbok campaign in the “next few weeks,” and fans can expect to see billboards and promotions across South Africa in the lead-up to key matches.
