Betway named Africa’s top betting operator in Blask Awards

Betway dominates 11 regulated African markets, with local brands like Bet9ja, Betika and betPawa leading key national rankings.

Kenya.- Betway has been named Africa’s top licensed betting operator following a year-long analysis across 11 regulated markets in the Blask Awards 2025. The awards, published by igaming analytics platform Blask, evaluated operator performance based on demand, revenue baseline and competitive market power.

Blask said: “These awards reflect sustained market power across multiple countries, measured through consistent external demand and competitive performance,”

Betway secured both Africa Operator of the Year and Africa Competitive Earning Baseline (CEB) Leader, underlining its dominant presence across the continent. South Africa, the region’s most mature regulated market, reinforced Betway’s leadership, with the operator also winning South Africa Operator of the Year and South Africa CEB Leader. The country’s Game of the Year award went to Aviator by Spribe, highlighting the popularity of crash-style games.

Local champions emerge

National markets showed strong local winners. In Nigeria, Bet9ja claimed both Operator of the Year and CEB Leader, while Kenya’s top honours went to Betika, Uganda crowned betPawa as both operator and CEB leader, and Zimbabwe awarded MWOS the national titles.

Blask added: “By focusing solely on regulated markets, we provide a clearer picture of where true market power and sustainable revenue potential exist.”

The awards are based exclusively on regulated markets and locally licensed operators, excluding offshore-only brands. Blask’s proprietary metrics, including the Blask Index and CEB, measure brand demand and potential revenue rather than reported earnings.

Africa’s results arrive alongside Blask’s global rankings, where Betano dominated worldwide categories, showing that the continent is now a competitive arena where global giants and regional specialists operate on nearly equal footing.
