betPawa highlights financial planning support for Africa’s betting winners
The operator hosted a Kenyan player in Nairobi for financial guidance after a KSh19.7m (€139,000) sports betting win.
Kenya.- betPawa has highlighted its emphasis on financial planning after hosting a major sports betting winner from Kenya for a financial guidance session in Nairobi.
The winner, Sadiq Kamulali, a long-distance truck driver based in Mombasa, secured a payout of KSh19,797,271.74 (€139,000) from a KSh100 (€0.70) bet placed on February 8. The wager included a 39-leg accumulator, with the payout increased by a 450 per cent win boost on the platform.
Kamulali placed the bet at 6:44am, relying on analysis of team performance trends and goal patterns in the Over/Under market before landing the multi-match accumulator.
Following the win, betPawa invited the bettor to Nairobi as part of a winner’s experience programme that included a financial planning session aimed at helping him manage the prize responsibly and support long-term financial stability. The visit also featured a guided safari at Nairobi National Park, forming part of a broader celebration organised by the operator.
Reflecting on the moment he realised the bet had landed, Kamulali said, according to Newslight Kenya: “I was calm on the outside, but inside I was very happy.” The win for Kamulali represents more than a financial milestone. “I have missed important moments with my children. Now I want to be present,” he added.
Africa winner support
betPawa has also promoted financial literacy among winners in other initiatives across Africa. In 2025, the company invited eight Aviator jackpot winners from Ghana, Cameroon and Zambia to Accra after they shared a $1.1m payout, where they took part in financial literacy workshops and consultations with investment advisers aimed at helping players manage their winnings responsibly.
Operating across multiple African markets, betPawa continues to combine promotional campaigns with player-focused initiatives, including financial literacy and responsible gambling programmes, as it expands its presence across the continent.
Providing financial guidance to major prize winners has become increasingly common among gambling operators in Africa as part of initiatives aimed at supporting players after significant payouts.
