Bet9ja teams up with Mainland BlockParty for December festivities
The initiative focuses on the “Detty December” period, when young Nigerians flock to music and nightlife gatherings.
Nigeria.- Bet9ja has launched a partnership with Mainland BlockParty to sponsor a line-up of December events in Lagos. The initiative focuses on the “Detty December” period, when young Nigerians flock to music and nightlife gatherings. Bet9ja plans to leverage the excitement of the season to host activities that mix sports viewing and live performances with community meet-ups at BlockParty venues across the city.
Jennifer Olatunji, Bet9ja’s Senior Marketing Manager for Retail and Experiences, said: “Bet9ja is proud to partner with Mainland BlockParty this Detty December, a cultural movement that has become a vibrant expression of youth energy, creativity and community. As a brand deeply rooted in the passion points of young Nigerians, we recognise the powerful role the youth play in shaping culture, driving innovation and sustaining communities.”
The collaboration builds on earlier joint events. In May, the two hosted the Bet9ja Champions Party, a UEFA Champions League final watch event at Ikeja City Mall that drew crowds for big-screen football and performances by Zlatan Ibile. July saw the Bet9ja Football Carnival in Lekki, featuring BNXN, Bella Shmurda and football skills contests.
December activities will follow the same format, featuring Bet9ja-branded areas within Mainland BlockParty venues, where attendees can enjoy quick betting terminals, lively match discussions, giveaways and meet their favourite artists.
Mainland BlockParty started in 2019 as small street parties in areas like Yaba and Surulere and now regularly pulls thousands of mainland residents looking for affordable nights out with local music. Organisers say the Bet9ja backing will improve production without changing the grassroots feel.
For Nigeria’s largest betting operator, the collaboration keeps the brand in front of the 20-to-35-year-old demographic that drives most sports wagering activity, linking bets to real-life entertainment rather than pure advertising.
