African iGaming Alliance meets Kenya regulator on gambling oversight
Peter Kesitilwe’s visit to Kenya’s Gambling Regulatory Authority covered responsible gambling, consumer protection, AML, illegal gambling and industry-regulator cooperation.
Kenya.- The African iGaming Alliance (AiA) CEO, Peter Kesitilwe, paid a courtesy visit to Kenya’s Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), where he discussed areas of mutual interest with the regulator.
At the meeting on August 20 with Peter Maina Karimi, the director general of the GRA, discussions were held on responsible gambling, consumer protection, anti-money laundering (AML) measures, combatting illegal gambling, and strengthening the collaboration between the industry and the regulator.
The Alliance said in a statement: “AiA looks forward to continued engagement with the GRA and supporting dialogue towards a safe, sustainable and well-regulated gambling industry in Kenya and across Africa.”
The GRA is a statutory body established under the Gambling Control Act, 2025 to regulate, supervise and control all forms of gambling in Kenya, including betting, casinos, lotteries and online gambling. The AiA is the trade association representing betting and gaming operators licensed and regulated within Africa. It works in collaboration with national regulators and authorities to advocate for responsible gaming, sustainable taxation and efficient enforcement against illegal betting and gaming.
