Tanzania.- Tanzania’s Gaming Board CEO James Mbalwe has welcomed further discussions on African gambling regulation ahead of the country hosting the 2027 Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF) Conference. Mbalwe addressed a networking reception organised by the African iGaming Alliance (AiA) on the sidelines of the recent International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) Conference in Lima, Peru.
According to AiA, the gathering provided an opportunity for African regulators to strengthen relationships, exchange perspectives and discuss shared priorities for the continent’s gambling sector. Mbalwe looked ahead to Tanzania hosting GRAF 2027 and welcomed colleagues to continue the conversations at the conference.
Tanzania was announced as the host of GRAF 2027 in September. The conference aims to strengthen cooperation between gambling regulators, promote responsible gambling and build stronger connections across Africa’s regulatory community.
At the IAGR-related reception, AiA CEO Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe highlighted the value of constructive dialogue between regulators and the regulated industry in advancing consumer protection, safeguarding integrity and addressing illegal gambling.
Lungile Dukwana, CEO of South Africa’s National Gambling Board, thanked AiA for bringing colleagues together and called for action to take regulatory cooperation forward.
AiA said it looked forward to building on the relationships established in Lima through continued engagement and practical collaboration.
