Tanzania.- A lucky player from Kilindi, Tanga has become the first Tanzanian to win TZS100 million (€32,739) from SportPesa’s powered Goal Rush game.

Ibrahimu Muya Sankonga, aged 23, secured the grand prize after making accurate predictions in three games. He correctly selected the teams that would score the first goal, the period and the exact minutes in which the goals would be scored in the following matches: Liverpool vs Arsenal, Napoli vs Genea and Boavista vs Porto, all held on May 11 2025.

The win came on Sankonga’s twenty-third attempt in the game, marking a triumphant end to his streak of unsuccessful tries.

Sankonga, who couldn’t contain his joy, noted his disbelief when he realised he had won. He said: “I was asleep when I woke up and opened the phone, I found a statement of 100 million wins. I sat first, sighed… I couldn’t believe it at all! This is my dream come true.”

Sakonga’s win is also a milestone for SportPesa, as it proves to users that the grand prize is real and achievable. The development is likely to lead to a surge in popularity for the operator, as well as increased interest and participation in the Goal Rush game.

Hon Tarimba Abbas, chairman of the board of directors of SportPesa, said: “This is a great pride for SportPesa. We have witnessed a young man from Kilindi, a remote part of the country, making history. This is proof that our winners come from every corner of the United Republic of Tanzania. This great victory will change his life and his family.”
