22Bet Nigeria donates food to 200 families in Lagos
The operator has partnered with the Lagos Food Bank to distribute food boxes to underprivileged individuals.
Nigeria.- Betting platform 22Bet Nigeria has partnered with the Lagos Food Bank to distribute food boxes to underprivileged individuals in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, as part of its yuletide community outreach programme. The beneficiaries, numbering 200, include widows, widowers, retirees and low-income earners.
According to Fikayo Ogunfuye, 22Bet Nigeria’s Country Director, each food box is worth more than N200,000 (€117.50) and contains cereals and staple foods for families. He noted that the effort underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to community support.
Ogunfuye said: “This initiative was conceived to give back to the Lagos community, which has supported the company’s growth over the past five years. We have been in existence for about five years, and in that time, we have carried out several campaigns in Oyo and other states where we have always given back. This year, because it’s Christmas, we felt it was important to support people so they can celebrate and have a good Christmas.”
Ogunfuye explained that Ebute-Metta was chosen for the distribution due to its high number of vulnerable residents. He stated: “We looked at areas that really needed support, and we felt it was best to start here. Definitely, in the coming years, we will extend to other parts of Lagos.”
The Country Director noted that the 200 boxes were just a beginning, as the company plans to do more in future editions. He said: “Next time, we are looking at doing 1,000 boxes or even 5,000 boxes. This is a start, and we believe it is in the right direction. We appreciate everyone who came out today, and we are thankful for the opportunity to give back; we are glad to be here.”
