Genius Sports has bought FanHub, a free-to-play games and fan engagement solutions provider.
US.- Genius Sports has agreed to buy fan engagement solutions provider FanHub, including their bracket challenges, pick ’em and polling games, trivia, and fantasy sports.
The new acquisition will help Genius Sports to offer marketing campaigns with live prediction of statistics, data, video highlights, and messaging.
FanHub is already working with some of the biggest organisations from Genius’s portfolio, such as the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), Major League Soccer (MLS), Betway, and PointsBet.
The exact details of the agreement haven’t been announced, but it’s set to close in the second quarter of 2021, subject to customary closing conditions.
Mark Locke, Genius Sports chief executive said: “The acquisition of FanHub will provide our sports, betting and media partners with exciting new content platforms that entirely complement our established data, video and marketing solutions.”
Chairman of FanHub Tim Lamb said: “We are delighted to join the Genius Sports family and excited about the potential opportunities for our clients and staff. We couldn’t imagine a more complementary partner and together we will offer an even richer fan experience, generate more engagement and offer value to our partners – and fans.”
The agreement was closed a week after Genius had announced its 2020 financial results. It reported a net loss of $30.3m while revenue jumped 30.6 per cent year-on-year to $149.7m.
