60% increase in US traffic for 888Poker
Poker in high demand amid the current Coronavirus crisis and with sports events cancelled around the world.
US.- 888Poker has reported a 60 per cent increase in US traffic for April, with more people accessing the site while under lockdown measures.
Parent company 888 Holdings reported the huge increase in traffic in the United States and around the world, with a significant increase in daily active poker players.
Head of Commercial Development at 888 Holdings, Yaniv Sherman, said: “We are seeing similar trends on our global poker network, a testament of a recreational destination that people are enjoying while sheltering in place.
“This is the first time in a long time that there is a growing poker network, and we are showing that there is a strong demand in the US as long as there is a secured environment.
“Ironically, poker is now more taboo than sports gambling. But at the same time, betting is now entertainment, and so it is easier to get legislation passed that allows for it.”
888 Holdings also reported an average daily revenue 18 per cent above the comparable prior-year period.
Earlier in April, it reported their profits were down in 2019.
