Vietnam to approve residents’ participation

Vietnamese residents would be able to enjoy local casino activities.

Vietnam.- The ruling government of Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc in Vietnam is seemingly in favour of the development of the gambling industry, as this month announced two great news for the sector. Adding to last week’s statement about the possible approval of further casino licenses in the region, the local press revealed yesterday that the government may allow the participation of residents in the gambling venues.

One casino located in the Van Don Special Economic Zone, it the north of the country, and another located in Phu Quoc Island, in the south of Vietnam, would be authorised to allow resident players to gamble. Currently, the gambling law prohibits the participation of Vietnamese citizens in betting games.

The seeming approval of Vietnamese players in the local casinos was made by Nguyễn Xuân Phúc during an officers meeting in Quang Ninh province in December 22. According to the Vietnamese press, the Prime Minister also confirmed his intentions to introduce a greater gambling framework to allow the total participation of residents in the upcoming casinos.
