Wynn Boston Harbor announces opening date

The Everett casino built close to the Mystic River announced its opening for mid 2019.

US.- The US$2.1 billion casino and hotel complex will open its doors to the public on June 3, 2019. The State Gaming Commission confirmed the final design and its opening date on Wednesday.

The construction started back in August, and the company still needed the final vote of the commission on whether they would approve the final design or not. The confirmation implies the single largest private development in the state’s history. Stephen P. Crosby, the State Gambling Commission’s chairman, said that they’re going through a very exciting moment.

The hotel complex will feature over 101 rooms, and it is estimated that 4000 workers will be hired during construction and 4000 permanent jobs will be created when the casino finally opens its doors.

Wynn Resorts was granted a licence for this project in 2014 after the Massachusetts Gaming Commission voted 3-1 in favour of the operator ahead of Mohegan Sun, with Wynn Resorts agreeing to US$76 million in payments. The project previously faced opposition from the City of Boston, which alleged that state police gave private detectives acting for Wynn Resorts access to information regarding an ongoing criminal investigation and asked a judge to revoke the licence.
