Tatts Group in talks to acquire INTRALOT Australia

The gambling operator confirmed its interest in the Australian arm of Greek gaming firm INTRALOT.

Australia.- Tatts Group Ltd. confirmed it has been in talks to acquire INTRALOT Australia, the Australian arm of Greek gaming company INTRALOT.

The negotiations have move forward to “a confirmatory due diligence” stage, although Tatts Group outlined that no official proposal has been made yet and that the discussions may not result in an acquisition. So far, the amount the gambling operator would pay to buy INTRALOT has remained undisclosed.

INTRALOT Australia monitors hotel and club gaming devices across the state of Victoria, as well as providing regulators and tax authorities with important data regarding the performance of gaming machines.

Back in 2014, INTRALOT Australia sold its Category 2 lottery license assets to Tatts Group. Until that point, the company was responsible for the sale of lotto and keno tickets in the state but it decided to focus its attention solely on monitoring gaming machine operations.

Now that Tatts Group confirmed its interest in INTRALOT’s Australian business, analysts suggested that the gambling operator would probably renew its merger talks with Tabcorp. It transpired that both gambling firms were discussing a consolidation of their operations late in 2015, however, the incipient agreement eventually broke down and the merger did not occur.
