George Kidd is Senet Group’s new CEO

UK’s independent responsible gambling body The Senet Group has appointed George Kidd as its new chief executive.

UK.- The Senet Group, UK’s independent responsible gambling body, announced it has appointed George Kidd as its new chief executive. Kidd fills the position vacated by the body’s founder and former chief executive Ron Finlay, who stepped down in April.

George Kidd comes from the UK’s Online Dating Association, where he served as CEO for the past three years. He previously served as chief executive of PhonePayPlus, which regulates premium-rate telephone services.

During the 1990s Kidd served as deputy director at the Cabinet Office, where he worked in regulatory policy and set up the Better Regulation Task Force and the Food Standards Agency. He worked at the Foreign Office as British Consul in Chicago from 1990-1994, promoting US investment into the UK. In a non-executive capacity, Kidd also served as chief commissioner at the UK Direct Marketing Commission, which is the regulatory body for traditional and digital direct marketing.

“I am delighted to be joining Senet,” said Kidd. “The sector is taking the issue of responsible gambling seriously as is clear from the impressive work to address this across its advertising, its support for Senet’s own campaigns and joint work on a self-exclusion scheme. I am sure Senet will continue to play an important role based on strong relationships with other bodies in the sector and our other stakeholders.”

“We are delighted to welcome George,” added Wanda Goldwag Senet Group chair. “He has an extensive background in regulation and self-regulation in particular having served as chief executive of PhonepayPlus and the Online Dating Association, as chair of the Direct Marketing Commission and in non-executive roles in the self-regulation of charity fundraising and conveyancing services.”
