Point Place Casino continues construction

The Oneida Nation casino in New York set to open next Spring is reportedly going steady with its construction work.

US.- The Oneida Indian Nation casino that will be open to the public by Spring 2018 over the Onondaga County-Madison County line, has reported that the construction work that started last month is going strong.

The Bridgeport venue will be built on route 31, will be about 65 thousand square feet and its projected to feature about 500 slot machines and 20 table games. It will also offer two fast service restaurants, Wicked Good Pizza and Burgers of Madison County, a chocolatier Opals Confectionary and two bars. As Rome Sentinel revealed, the construction follows a project labor agreement between the state and Central New York trade unions, as they created 250 construction jobs on site over the course of the project.

Jason Bort of Huen Electric said: “Work for us has been a little slow. My company is installing the outside electrical work, and we have also bid on the interior electrical work. We’re waiting to hear whether we’ve won the bid.” The casino will offer 200 permanent jobs, and the hiring process is set to start in the fall.

Back in April, the Oneida Indian Nation revealed that even if they’re pursuing the Bridgeport casino, they still keep their intentions in Utica. “The Bridgeport project does not impact the potential partnership with Oneida County around a downtown Utica casino at all,” said Joel Barkin, spokesman for the tribe earlier this year.
