Online poker ban removed from Republican Party platform

Poker Players Alliance Vice President of Player Relations revealed that the ban on internet poker has been removed from the Republican Party’s platform in the run-up to the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

US.- Rich Muny, Poker Players Alliance (PPA) Vice President of Player Relations, sent an e-mail to PPA’s member letting them know the positive news that a ban on internet poker has been removed from the Republican Party’s platform in the run-up to the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The measure is surprising considering that Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson, a generous Republican supporter, is ready to do “whatever it takes” to get online gambling banned in the U.S. Furthermore, Donald Trump’s recently-tabbed running mate, Indiana Governor Mike Pence favoured Adelson’s Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA), going so far as to write a letter to the Indiana Congressional Delegation, urging them to support it, as well.

Ever since online poker was created, an online gambling prohibition has been a part of the Republican platform. However, the PPA finally convinced the Republican Platform to remove the online gambling ban.
