Online gaming grows in Italy

According to Italia’s gambling regulatory body, the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, there has been a significant growth in the online gaming market.

Italy.- The Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (AAMS) has confirmed that the profit generated by the online gaming market grew by 31.2 percent year-on-year in 2015.

AGIMEG.it, an Italian gaming website, said the country’s market collected a total of €327.5 million (US$356.43m) in profit, on revenue of €9.4 billion (US$10.23B.) Sports betting grew 19 percent compared to the previous year generating profits of €254 million (US$276.44m)on revenue of €5.5 billion (US$5.99b.)

On the other hand, online poker market in Italy suffered losses in 2015, with profit falling 4.2 percent to €71.3 million (US$77.60m) on revenue of €727 million (US$791.23m.)

Lottomatica retained its position as leader of the Italian online gaming market with 14.7 percent of the market share, followed by Sisal with a 9.6 percent share and William Hill with 8.3 percent.
