New casino survey in California

A phone survey is currently circulating in Pittsburg regarding the possibility of bringing a new casino to the state.

US.- Residents of Pittsburg, California, reported that there’s a pone survey circulating in the city and asking residents about the possibility of a casino and whether they’re against or in favor of it. The survey, which also features questions about the city and the police department, is approximately 20 minutes long.

“It was a lengthy survey. They asked if I was for or against a casino coming in and there’s going to be restaurants, shops and retail and bring in a lot of city money. They didn’t mention a location. I was just kind of flabbergasted… I was adamant about this not happening,” said Linda Haycox, a resident of the area. As Mercury News reported, there has been neighborhood discussions that have centered around the hypothetical questions of a casino.

City Manager Joe Sbranti said that the city’s policy establishes that all decisions regarding casinos should be up to vote. “There’s no pending applications for anything like that and no pending changes to the policies. We are as much in the dark about this as others.” This policy goes back to 1997, when the city rejected a 60.000 square foot gambling facility. “There’s no pending applications for anything like that and no pending changes to the policies. We are as much in the dark about this as others.”
