New bill on DFS to be introduced in NY

Assembly member Gary Pretlow will introduce a bill regulating Daily Fantasy Sports in New York in the next few days.

US.- A new bill by Assembly member Gary Pretlow, which aims to regulate daily fantasy sports is set to be introduced later this week.

Rep. Pretlow announced the introduction of the new measure via Twitter. The post read: “[DFS] legislation will be introduced and moved through the committees in the next coming days.”

The proposed bill comes after an agreement closed between New York and DraftKings and FanDuel last March. Both operators have agreed to pull out of the state until the legal landscape of DFS in New York was clear. If passed, the coming legislation will likely supersede this settlement.

It has been reported that the new legislation may differ from the original Bonacic Bill in numerous ways, as it is expected to be more rigorous and have particular impact on smaller DFS operators in the New York market.
