Mississippi’s casino revenues boost the state’s totals

According to the state Revenue Department, casinos won US$190 million in February.

US.- Figures released by Mississippi Revenue Department saw casinos won US$190 million in February, which is up 5 percent from US$181 million year-on-year. These results exclude Choctaw Indian casinos, which don’t report winnings to the state.

The 16 Mississippi River casinos won US$86 million, about equal to February 2015. Gamblers left US$105 million at the 12 coastal casinos, 10 percent more year-on-year. Strong performance and earns maintained through December’s opening of D’Iberville’s Scarlet Pearl casino.

Mississippi gambling revenue rose in 2015 for only the second time in eight years. February was the seventh in the last 12 month that revenue rose statewide, as declines along the river have flattened out, whilst revenue has grown strongly along the coast.
