Mississippi: new loss for DFS

After all the comes and goes with the American law the companies are, for now, only available in 42 states, according to legalsportsreport.com.

US.- The United States of America are a roller coaster for sports betting providers, FanDuel and DraftKings. Whilst yesterday Daily Fantasy Sports celebrated a first step to achieve the approval from the Indiana government, hours later they decided to leave Mississippi.

Though a regulation proposal introduced last week has conquered its initial committee vote in the state, the national operators informed the end of their services since today. In January, the Attorney General, Jim Hood, declared his opposition to this kind of wagers, as he considers them “illegal under the law.”

The answer seems very clear after the decision both biggest Daily Fantasy Sports providers have made. FanDuel, meanwhile, published a letter where the company stands its position and defends itself. “We strongly disagree with the Mississippi Attorney General’s recent opinion letter, which reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of fantasy sports. But the opinion has now created uncertainty about the law in Mississippi, and as such we are voluntarily suspending play in the state for the time being,” the online sports betting platform expressed.
