Lisboa Palace stops construction

The government of Macau ordered the casino operator to stop construction work at the Grand Lisboa Palace.

Macau.- Macau authorities ordered the suspension of the construction of the upcoming Grand Lisboa Palace casino. The disposition comes after a fatal accident that happened on Sunday, as local media reported.

As the government of Macau revealed, a worker fell from a platform that is 8 meters tall and was later found unconscious when he was being taken to the hospital. The worker was in a coma before the authorities informed that he died. The Labour Affairs Bureau informed that it issued a suspension order to the contractor, in order to protect the safety of other workers. Moreover, the authorities ordered the contractor to fully implement effective measures that would improve occupational safety of all workers.

In order to resume construction activity the contractor needs the necessary permissions from the Labor Affairs Bureau. The casino that is estimates to open its doors during the first semester of 2018 is set to be featured in the integrated resort of SJM on Cotai.
